Artisan House
Artisan House
For more than four decades, Artisan House's vibrant, versatile designs have been recognized as multi-dimensional "metalworks of art." In 1964, partners Jerry Fels and Kurt Freiler branched out into the specialized world of metal art. Previously, Fels operated Renoir of California -- a jewelry house that designed and produced collections of copper jewelry. It is a combination of Fels and Freiler's names that make up the signature C. Jere that marks every Artisan House handmade sculpture. Artisan House wall sculptures elevate the look of any room or outdoor setting thanks to a comprehensive array of designs showcasing multi-colored, cool and warm tones; nature-themed pieces with earthly inspirations; and sculptures reminiscent of activities that relax, excite or inspire. Tabletop and freestanding floor pieces also make dynamic statements in the home or out-of-doors. Before new product designs debut each April and October, hundreds of sketched or proposed designs undergo an initial review. Then, prototypes are made and final pieces are selected by a panel of design authorities. Because many members of Artisan House's finishing staff have worked with the company for more than 30 years, they are highly skilled at collaborating with studio artists to help make their original designs come to life. Upon completion, every Artisan House sculpture is copyrighted and signed and dated by the artist. Today, Artisan House offers its discerning clients an ever-evolving roster of more than 350 pieces. New metalworks designs are introduced twice annually at major markets. All handmade items are created by master artists at the firm's C. Jere Design Studio in Burbank, California. . Wall sculptures and items especially crafted for long-lasting display in today's outdoor living spaces consistently rank among the company's top sellers. Sculptures are handcrafted of rich metals including copper, bronze, brass, steel, aluminum and chrome. Each piece is hand finished with intriguing surface treatments, paints and patinas. For example, pieces may incorporate ground steel, brushed stainless steel, flame-treated copper or hammered brass -- or combine two or more metals like painted brass and steel with flame treated copper. Due to the abstract nature of most Artisan House pieces, many can be hung upside down or at an angle, as well as used in multiples for a larger configuration or to create a bolder statement. FYI Fun Fact: Artisian House art starred in an Oscar winning film. One of the works of art appeared in The Lives of Others, winner of the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film.

Copeland
Copeland
Copeland Furniture has been producing wood products and furniture since 1976. We have gradually grown over the years from a one man shop to the largest employer in our small town of Bradford, Vermont with over 100 workers producing high quality furniture. We know that our environment is, in many ways, very fragile. We are the beneficiaries of the strong stewardship ethic practiced and passed down by those who went before us. We hope that the next generation appreciates our stewardship and is inspired to continue the tradition. We hope that you can see that respect for the landscape in the furniture we build for your home – timeless designs and timeless quality. We remain a family owned and operated business committed to manufacturing high quality products in America. Copeland Makes Green Furniture Preservation and stewardship are values that run deep in Vermont. They run deep at Copeland Furniture too. Our commitment to the environment is reflected in the green furniture we design and manufacture. Here are some of the things we’re doing to make sure that our manufacturing process, from raw material procurement through manufacturing to shipping, is as green as possible. We’re FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified Copeland Furniture is one of only a few FSC certified furniture manufacturers. We work with the SmartWood program of the Rainforest Alliance. Under that program we work with suppliers who can certify that the wood we purchase from them comes from forests that: are not threatened do not have high conservation significance do not contain genetically modified trees. SmartWood audits our purchase records annually. Whenever feasible, we purchase wood that is harvested from FSC certified woodlots and processed by FSC-certified sawmills. The Northern Forest is among the healthiest in the world and is actually growing in terms of standing biomass. We’re able to use lumber that grows within 500 miles of our factory reducing the amount of fossil fuel consumed (and carbon dioxide created) by raw material transportation. Our heirloom-quality furniture has less environmental impact than a piece that will fail or has a “fashion life.” We use time-tested joinery and construction methods, combined with durable finishes and quality hardware. We comply with strict regulations on air quality emissions, hazardous waste, worker safety, and storm water runoff. We work to recycle and reduce packaging material and volatile solvents. We participate with the New England power pool to generate our own electricity during peak usage times, helping to reduce the capacity requirements of the electric utility companies. We can’t claim credit for it, but almost none of Vermont’s electrical power comes from fossil fuel burning generation plants – only during occasional peak demand periods. A water born, formaldehyde free finish may be specified for all Copeland Furniture pieces. These finishes are every bit as durable as our traditional catalyzed lacquer with the added benefit of drastically reduced VOC emissions at the factory and off-gassing at the home.

Foreign Accents
Foreign Accents
About Foreign Accents: CELEBRATING 25 YEARS! The year was 1984. In a small garage in Santa Fe, New Mexico, FOREIGN ACCENTS was born. We had visions of new contemporary design. We pictured a beautiful office, with orders coming in so fast we could barely keep up with them. At that time, it was only a dream. An idea. In 1984, oriental rugs dominated the market. Affordable contemporary rugs were a rare find. With energy and enthusiasm, Trish & Wolfgang Rempen set about changing that. Soon we opened our own small retail showroom. By 1987, we had outgrown the space, and FOREIGN ACCENTS moved to Albuquerque. In 1998, we designed and built our own office and warehouse - just the way we had imagined it. In January 1985 we had our first space at the San Francisco Contemporary Furniture Fair. Atlanta followed in January 1987, and finally in High Point in April 1988. We loaded our old VW van with rugs and drove to the shows. We shared booth space and houses with other exhibitors. We shared meals and ideas with our customers. In the past 20 years, we have been able to find outstanding manufacturing partners in over 30 countries. From handmades to machine-mades, hand-wovens, machine-wovens to hand-knotteds, pile rugs to flatweaves, even rugs made from banana bark - we have worked with some of the very best, and we still do. Dealing with people from around the world has been one of the joys and challenges in this business. FOREIGN ACCENTS has been richly rewarded for its efforts in spearheading contemporary design in the industry. At the New York Home Textiles Show, we have received the “Best New Product” award - three times! In many industry publications, FOREIGN ACCENTS has been cited as the importer who continues to set the trends in modern rugs. And why not - we love what we do! But the best rewards come from our customers - you - and the excitement we see year after year when we present our collections. And we have truly enjoyed the friendships we have developed with many of you over the years! For 20 years, we have sold to furniture stores and designers on six continents, and we continue to serve thousands of retailers - old friends and new - with the best contemporary design any rug importer has to offer. To all of our customers, designers, manufacturers, and staff at FOREIGN ACCENTS - THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE DREAM COME TRUE!

KSL
KSL
KSL Manufacturing was founded in 1982. As a premier manufacturer of Scandinavian designed sofas made in North America, KSL only uses the finest materials and is environmentally friendly. KSL uses polyurethane foam that is fully cured and 100% inert, using low or no VOC chemistry. All of the foam we use is PBDE-free. We also have soy-based bio foam available for certain grades of foam. This biofoam utilizes 60% less petrochemicals in its manufacturing. We are already using this in at least 50% of our production – mainly in cushion cores. Our frames are constructed with a combination of raw lumber and engineered panels. The raw lumber is forested by strict Canadian government guidelines, which means that a reforestation plan must be in place, and financed, before logging can commence on any land. The engineered panels that we use, are made from fibers collected from previously termed waste lumber. This lumber is then engineered into structural panels with the use of phenolic glue that does not contain Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) such as formaldehyde. KSL has 2 different classes of environmentally friendly fabrics available as well. KSL also uses non-toxic inert glues, stains and finishes that are considered very low in VOCs and only water-based compounds are used where possible.

We in the furniture industry need to accept our responsibility and do our part to protect the environment. We're concerned about the impact that global warming, deforestation and hazardous waste are having on our fragile planet. That's why we've made a commitment to produce long lasting quality furniture while offering our customers materials and methods that have the least impact on our environment. Legare
Legare
The design of the Legare desks was conceived in late 1999 in the offices of Stick Networks, a small, start-up internet company in Dallas, TX. Having little capital to buy furniture, one of the founders, Brock Brandenberg, decided to design and build an affordable desk that would have all the features of furniture that they couldn't afford, but that could be built locally on a very low budget. After a couple of weeks of drawing, tinkering and mock-ups, the first design emerged. Making use of available resources, the design was cut using a cnc router at a small tradeshow exhibit shop in Fort Worth owned by a friend, Art Fairchild of Artfair Displays. The design consisted of a corner desk and an add-on peninsula that were all cut from only four 5'x5' sheets of Baltic Birch plywood. The design used the material as efficiently as possible with the only scrap left over amounting to little more than a pile of toothpicks. The use of a cnc router allowed the design to take a unique direction - one that didn't require any tools or fasteners because the cnc router could cut intricate details that would allow the desk pieces to interlock without having to be fastened to one another with hardware. The desks regularly received compliments from visitors, so it didn't take long to realize that the desks should be manufactured and sold to others. And so, the saga began. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Legare furniture is packed with remarkable innovations that you simply won't find in other modular furniture. Patented tool-free assembly, incredibly strong locking tab/slot design, integrated cable routing and many other forward-thinking user features, are just a few of the innovations you'll find in every piece of Legare furniture. Don't be deceived by the ease of assembly. Each successive piece locks previous pieces into place so they won't come apart until you take them apart. And, the modular design allows you to lock multiple units together to form a single, rigid workspace. Legare units can be assembled and disassembled repeatedly without damage, unlike other RTA furniture. And our furniture is sturdy and strong. Did we already say that? Well, to prove our point, we performed quite an amazing test at Entela Labs. We managed to load an incredible 2000 pounds (one ton) of shot bags and weights on our original Legare Signature (baltic birch) Corner Desk with no structural damage! DESIGNED FOR REAL USE, Versatile Asymmetric design allows most all Legaré desks, extenders & media towers to be reverse-configured for right hand or left hand installation. This is especially useful for doubling the life of a worksurface. An unfortunate scratch or scrape is remedied by simply flipping the assembly for a completely new desktop. Route your cables through large 3 1/2" openings in the desk tops, through the backs of all shelves and through vertical supports between all components. Short risers on the backs of worksurfaces hide cables and desk clutter from view. Our Legaré Sustainable? furniture is constructed of the finest Moso Bamboo plywood sourced only from FSC Certified mills. The use of plywood is important not only for strength, but also because of the efficient use of bamboo stalks and low VOC emission adhesives used in its manufacture. The material is then finished in a very eco-friendly carbonizing process, which gives our furniture its beautiful golden amber color.

Natura
Natura
Natura was created out of a desire to solve the mystery behind having a healthier, more abundant lifestyle. As a result, in 1994, Natura World, Inc was born. While many mattresses on the market looked plush and luxurious and even felt comfortable when tested in the store, these mattresses failed to address the more serious long term issues such as continual back pain, restless sleep, and waking up groggy and tired. They discovered that consumers were in need of healthy sleep in order to respond to the demands of the day. The Natura mattress team set out to create a total sleep solution with benefits that were more than just “skin deep.” Researching how the body moves and body activity during sleep, they created a bed that was designed to work with the body, not against it. This started the ball rolling towards the creation of a luxurious, healthy line of natural "green" bedding, as well as the manufacturing of numerous innovative sleep enhancing products to help people wake up to a better day.

Nourison
Nourison
Nourison is the leading multi-category resource in today’s floor covering market. Our company offers comprehensive programs from signature handmade area rug collections such as Nourison 2000, to prestige designer lines like Calvin Klein, to the best-selling powerloom carpets of Ashton House, to the Grand Parterre collection which represents an unparalleled level of luxury and sophistication in broadloom construction. Throughout the United States and Europe, prominent retailers rely on Nourison for merchandise assortments recognized for their unique combination of beauty, craftsmanship, and value in virtually every price and construction category. With a consistent and monumental backup inventory on over 4500 sku’s in area rugs alone, Nourison ships over 95% of our orders within 48 hours. This commitment to maintaining an outstanding in-stock position is a special point of pride throughout the company. Nourison’s state-of-the-art website makes doing business with us as easy and convenient as turning on a computer screen. With the click of a mouse, retailers can check our stock, place an order, and check their order status, all without leaving the office. Likewise, our dealer support program includes constantly updated printed materials and also highly cost-effective promotional materials for consumer outreach. Our in-house Marketing Department creates catalogues, videos, mailers, and inserts that enable our retailers to maintain a highly effective and targeted dialogue with their customers. In addition, Nourison supports several high profile national advertising programs through vehicles such as Architectural Digest and Traditional Home. These programs greatly enhance consumer awareness of Nourison products and direct affluent customers to the retailers who carry them. And our consumer website makes it a genuine shopping pleasure for consumers to view a wealth of high fashion collections at their leisure and then locate the Nourison dealer most convenient to their place of residence. Yet how did this remarkable “full service phenomenon” come about? In the 1970’s, during their years in retail, the brothers who founded Nourison gained invaluable experience in understanding the supply issues that concern dealers in import goods. When they decided to turn these insights toward a new kind of wholesale business, they knew that the key to success was their “know-how” in bringing in large assortments of rugs that were otherwise not easily available to the retailer. Nourison’s management attributes the company’s success to a simple observation. “We created new merchandising possibilities with reliably programmed collections. SIS Covers
SIS Covers
SIS Company History 1987-2009 It's an engaging story. Twenty-something sisters, Shari Hammer and Cyndi Ritger, wanted to hang with their young kids and make a living. One day the young women were out shopping and spotted a mattress (what is now called a futon mattress) displayed on the floor of Depth of Field. No frame. Just mattress. A new piece of furniture! Discovering there were only black and white covers available, Shari and Cyndi figured this mattress needed some style and color. Whoa! A perfect opportunity for two smart, stylish, artistic and energetic young women. Around this time, the Futon Association formed, and it was tiny. Shari and Cyndi were able to swing a trip to its second tradeshow in Montreal in 1987. In preparation for the show, the sisters haggled three fabric samples from a mill. Then they promptly sewed the samples into three covers. To increase the options, Cyndi and Shari hand painted futon covers to market at the show. The retailers (lots of groovy people) wanted to buy the new product, the futon. (This show displayed one of the first convertible frames.) And they were thrilled with SIS's product: Wow! Covers for the futons! Shari and Cyndi returned home with a handful of orders. They set to work sewing covers in Cyndi's basement and hand painting covers in the backyard along with changing diapers, wiping noses and kissing booboos. Between 1988-1990, the futon business exploded, and SIS was in the middle of all the excitement. Eventually, Cyndi left the business while Joe Hammer, Shari 's husband, came on board as CFO. Because of his strong belief in Shari and SIS Enterprises, Joe was willing to give up his successful career in finance to help move the business forward. SIS's space has grown from 800 square feet to 76,000 square feet and from stocking 150 yards of fabric to 500,000 yards of fabric. SIS has also expanded its product line to include daybed covers, top of bed and window treatments. SIS Enterprises' history of hard work, good decisions and artistic flair has helped it grow into a key component of the still-burgeoning international futon industry.

Surya
Surya
For more than 30 years, the name Surya has been synonymous with high quality, innovation and luxury. Our Fall 2009 collections are no exception. Our designers have masterfully created some of the most cutting edge and versatile pieces to date. Encompassing their expert understanding of the latest trends in fashion and interior design, each product is a perfect combination of color, pattern and texture. In 1976, in the small Northeastern village of Ugapur, India, Surya M. Tiwari was a man set apart from the crowd. Working as a teacher and local contractor in his rural village, he knew of greater places and dreamed of a greater purpose. Countless tales of Bombay, its modern technology and its luxurious accommodations, drew him to the bustling coastal city. So like many inquisitive people from Ugapur, he set out to discover what possibilities might await him in such a place. But Surya did not simply go to Bombay and marvel; he approached each new discovery as an opportunity for greatness. And so, when he came to the famed Taj Hotel, he did not just stand outside and admire its beauty and opulence; he boldly went inside. It was there, in the lobby of one of world’s most prestigious hotels that Surya Tiwari was introduced to the Federated Group. The Federated Group, known today as Macy’s Inc., went to India in 1976 in order to acquire new products for their growing number of American retail stores. They were interested in local, hand-made goods and were inviting anyone who could manufacture and supply these items to inquire. Surya was inspired by this prospect, and so he spoke with the Federated Group representative who sent him to New Delhi to meet with prospective buyers. Surya spoke with the buyers and pitched his ideas. The Federated buyers were intrigued, and told Surya that they would travel to Ugapur in one week to tour his manufacturing facility and see his products. Surya left New Delhi with one week to return to his village, establish some type of production site, and fabricate an entire collection of merchandise. Renting a traditional wedding tent and purchasing ready-made goods from local craftsmen, Surya was able to convince the Federated buyers that his products were right for their market. A daring endeavor had placed Surya Tiwari on his journey to success. Over the next several years Surya continued to supply his Federated clients with products through his company, aptly named Surya. His first collection of rugs consisted of simple hand-knotted pieces of one or two colors. His business was growing, but Surya felt he could do more. From 1976 to 1985 he made many trips to the United States to work directly with his clients so that he could achieve a better understanding of their businesses and how he could provide higher quality service to each of them. The retailers encouraged him to establish an office within the U.S. to provide them with the direct personal contact they were missing. Ordering containers of goods from India was satisfactory, but it was impossible for them to specify items or to guarantee the arrival of top-selling products. Surya realized that immediate personal contact and service was the very thing that was needed to take his company to the next level. And, even though there were less than 10 Indian based corporations operating outside of India at that time, he began the long and laborious process of establishing his company abroad. In 1986 it was made official. Surya M. Tiwari was granted authority to operate his business from within the United States. He made himself and his company unique by becoming directly involved in the process of improving and growing his clients’ businesses. As his list of customers grew, so too did his product selections. Today, Surya is the only rug manufacturer who has also developed a comprehensive collection of coordinating accessories to complement their rugs. Surya’s accessories include a unique assortment of hand crafted pillows and throws, an exclusive compilation of signed and numbered fine art pieces, and a variety of table and floor lamps. In order to reach a wider range of buyers, Surya began participating in trade shows and markets in 1990. He was not allowed to lease a showroom for the 1990 Atlanta Market, so instead he rented available space at the nearby Westin Hotel and began making many valuable new contacts. In April of 1994, Surya appointed his son Satya Tiwari president of the company’s U.S. division. Surya’s direct involvement with its clients has resulted in them being an industry leader with more than 3,000 individual accounts. Employing the world’s best designers, Surya is known for their innovative use of color and design. And, with over 5,000 individual products Surya continues to be a premier source for today’s designs. Surya Inc. remains a vertically integrated manufacturer and currently exhibits in Atlanta, High Point, Las Vegas, New Delhi, and New York.
